Sherlock & John + Sleuthing

Okay, everything else awesome about Scandal in Belgravia aside (which is actually everything)
Is anyone else imagining John and Sherlock playing a game of Cluedo that gets so heated Sherlock stabs the fucking board to the wall.

I’m torn over this. Given the atrocities that Weinstein committed and how complicitous The Weinstein Company must be, it’s good that no money will go to them.
But Benedict and Michael Shannon’s work was highly praised, and the rest of the cast and crew will have their hard work (possibly) go unseen. Which is really sad.
Collateral damage is always ugly and never fair, but since they’re in initial stages of this horrendous situation, perhaps for the best. Now that Weinstein is removed, maybe down the line it’ll still be released under another studio and/or perhaps Sunnymarch will become more significantly involved. I’m no expert to be sure, but time away from TWC may not be a bad thing. Doesn’t have to automatically suggest straight to DVD. This may very well be a good time for companies to acquire projects, left out in the cold.
Honestly probably for the best. Better to be punished for doing the right thing than be successful for doing the wrong. Benedict is such a good and moral person that I’m sure he’d agree. And who knows, it may find a home elsewhere.
There really was no other way to handle this. As much as I was anticipating this film this was the best decision that was made. And I also feel as well that Benedict agreed with this decision.
Really enjoyed and appreciated the wise commentaries on this post, as above… and I agree, I kinda feel after Benedict spoke out for women and against Weinstein that he kind of sealed this outcome.
The vanity far article and others about this only said that it’s not on the list for potential Oscar nominations for this year. It didn’t say that the movie would /never/ be released either in theaters or straight to DVD. We still may see the movie, just not right now. (And it might be with a different company? But I’m not sure how that works when a film is already done?)
That being said I applaud the decision to start proactively pulling films and pulling actors, writers, etc from panels and stopping other PR things for the time being. (As it looks like other films on the docket are being changed or postponed).
With the statements the actors have made I have no doubt they aggred with this decision.
Being overly-familiar with a series is such a weird burden sometimes because like
you’ll see some theory being passed around that you instantly know is wrong. Like it’s surprising to see people supporting it because the flaws in its logic are so glaringly obvious. Until it hits you that, yeah it’s wrong, but only because you were able to immediately remember the 5 second conversation between two background characters 17 minutes through s2e13 that definitively disproves it. And no casual fan would have any reason to remember that off the top of their head and it’s you who’s the weird human encyclopedia with a shot-for-shot memory the entire damn series.
Like at that point you don’t even know anymore whether to argue your point or just…maybe go outside for a little bit.
So, finally here is my part of the collaboration with Cpnblowfish.
Actually, I want it to look a bit like as someone has put two completely different pieces – like Sherlock and John are as persons – together. Forced them to be one, to be united as one and… well, in the end this someone – or Sherlock and John – realize, that they are really perfect together, because they complete themselves in such a wonderful way.
I hope this sounds not too odd. I just don’t know how to write my thoughts down in good English and without be too abstract and lost the point with start to write about the lil story-idea I’ve got while I worked on it.
I’m not satisfied and I still have the feeling that something is missing. But I’ve already stare at this work the whole night and day and.. it’s enough. I dunno.
It was really fun to do this collaboration with cpnblowfish and to see how different our works look in the end, although we worked with the same references and basic motive 🙂
If you haven’t seen her work already, take a look at it here. It’s breathtaking!
