So many things to address here.

4. The photographer and the counselor don’t have “original character” under their names, like the sergeant, so are they their versions of existing characters but their name would be a spoiler? Sholto perhaps? Moriarty??
5. Laughing at Mycroft’s facial hair, including eyebrows
6. Very happy there IS a counselor!! Maybe this Watson is also bamf, I hope, though didn’t look much like it from the trailer, but then again, Watson is good at suprising us (and Sherlock)
7. Despite everything (and my expectations and hopes that are probably all gonna be crushed), I’m still excited!!!

So in The Six Thatchers, Mary faked her own death.

Long story short, the fake death was because BBC Sherlock’s Mary is an adapted version of the character Birdy Edwards from The Valley of Fear. (Who, even longer story even shorter, also faked his own death.)

Because Mary = Birdy, the show’s been doing little things like filling her house with birds.

And putting her in a bird print dress.

The whole time he was on the phone with John, she was in the background. But they “happened” to leave her face out of the shot.
