Benedict Cumberbatch’s SunnyMarch Banner Lands TV Rights to Memoir ‘The Gender Games’

SunnyMarch, the production banner founded by Benedict Cumberbatch and Adam Ackland, has acquired the TV rights to “The Gender Games,” the memoir by best-selling author and trans activist Juno Dawson. The book will serve as a jumping off point to create an original half-hour series picking up Dawson’s journey post-transition.

A playful manifesto on womanhood and a celebration of female friendship, the series will tell Dawson’s story as she learns how to live, love, and date as a woman. Having built a career, relationships and identity on the other side of the gender divide, Dawson is constantly coming up against everyone’s expectations of what being a woman means, including her own. Surrounded by her close-knit group of straight, gay, cis and trans friends, Juno’s journey into womanhood makes for funny, poignant, and often profound moments of self-discovery.

“Sherlock star Benedict Cumberbatch fought off a gang of four muggers as they beat up a defenceless Deliveroo cyclist. The actor, 41, leapt from an Uber car and waded in after spotting the attack near Detective Sherlock Holmes’ fictional home in London’s Baker Street. The gang fled. Uber driver Manuel Dias said: The cyclist was lucky, Benedict’s a superhero.”

The star leapt to the rescue as the yobs punched the defenceless cyclist and smashed him over the head with a bottle.

Witnesses told how Benedict, 41, jumped from an Uber car in which he was riding with wife Sophie Hunter and sprinted into the fray, yelling: “Leave him alone.”

He dragged the four muggers off their bloodied victim. They then tried to punch Benedict, but he fen­ded them off before they fled.

Driver Manuel Dias, 53, said: “I was taking Benedict and his wife to a club — but I didn’t know it was him at first.

“I went to turn down into Marylebone High Street and we saw four guys were pushing around a Deliveroo cyclist.

“My passenger jumped out, ran over and pulled the men away. They turned towards him and things looked like getting worse, so I joined in.

“He stood there instructing them in the street, shouting, ‘Leave him alone’.

“It was only then I recognised Benedict. Then it all got a bit surreal. Here was Sherlock Holmes fighting off four attackers just round the corner from Baker Street.

“I had hold of one lad and Benedict another. He seemed to know exactly what he was doing. He was very brave. He did most of it, to be honest.

“They tried to hit him but he defended himself and pushed them away. He wasn’t injured. Then I think they also re­cognised it was Be­ne­dict and ran away.

Sherlock star Cumberbatch insisted he was not a hero, claiming he ‘had to’ help the victim.

“Benedict was courageous, brave and selfless. If he hadn’t stepped in the cyclist could have been seriously injured.

“He asked the rider how he was and when he said, ‘I’m OK’ Benedict just hugged him.”

This might be explaining where no explanation is needed but I feel the urge: Theatre directors 95% of the time ask for actors’ rehearsal clothes to be plain, with no patterns so they don’t distract from what’s going on on stage. Also to better see the actor’s movement and give feedback. The clothes also need to be comfy and stretchy, in case you do some falls or big movement shite like kneels and squats or whatever.

The common actor is also a creature of habit and craves comfort and simplicity. So once we find our perfect rehearsal emsemble we will NEVER let it go. This shit needs to fall off of our dead beaten post-performance bodies. I don’t wanna have to think about what imma wear tomorrow for rehearsal if i know i have to cry on command over my dead imaginary child that’s currently portrayed by a towel. So gimme those black lulus and that grey mens t-shirt with the collar cut away.

You wear those adidas pants and that boring bridge shirt, Benedict. Wear them and BE SHEER KHAN.
