they had a whole thing about secret twins and then didnt even make sherlock and eurus twins
they also have a whole thing about how a person could gake their own suicide by shooting themself in the head yet Moriarty really died by a suicide by shooting himself in the head
they have that thing too where they repeatedly tell us that shotgun wounds are not like the movies and don’t splash blood everywhere, and then mary’s death
I am honestly laughing so hard right now thinking about the utterly ridiculous events that unfolded at Sherlock’s family’s house at the end of The Final Problem. Like I cannot stop laughing just imagining some cartoon cronies hammering that 10 x 10 room together in the front yard and stapling pictures to the walls for dramatic effect while Sherlock just lies like a dead-ass tuna in the middle of it. You know those minions were watching from the bushes with binoculars like, “Damn good touch with the dog bowl, Stanley.” That entire scene was so ludicrously implausible that I cannot stop laughing at the absurdity of it all. Like did Euros shout commands at a team of stage hands with a megaphone to set that all up before she had her level ten psychotic break? Did they all zip-line from the walls of Sherrinford and barrel-roll right into the front yard with the stage props in their hands? How did they transport two grown-ass male bodies to the yard in that amount of time? Is Euros a licensed pilot as well as a criminal mastermind and movie director? Where were all of the cronies that helped her set it all up? Were they all posted up in Mr. and Mrs. Holmes’ bedroom watching The Great British Bake Off while Sherlock ran screaming through the yard? Did anyone think to go back for John’s feet in the well? The whole thing is such a fever-fuck, I’m wasted.
I love the s4 score because it is beautiful and basically confirms M-Theory in the best possible way.
I’m talking about that one scene where John flirts with “E” on the bus in TST. Now, the melody that is playing (TST score; chapter “59 Missed Calls”; 0:46) is interesting because you get a version of MORIARTY’S THEME out of this.
Moriarty‘s theme: d# f# f g# .
The (let’s call it) “E”-theme: a# g f g# .
If you transpose it becomes: g# f d# f# .
Let’s put these notes together: d# f# f g# (g#) f d# f# .
As you can see, it looks like the melody is being “continued” by the “E”-theme.
So, the melodies aren’t the same but they share the same “content”.
That shows us A LOT. Let’s get from the score to the actual scene..
“E“ is a Mary mirror (I wrote a meta about that here), even though “E” is later to be revealed as Eurus, a Moriarty mirror.
(It you have no idea why I think that, here is a picture that might help:)
“E” has got the Moriarty theme but not, since it is a different version.
So, “E” is not exactly Moriarty but still has the same “content”, the same intentions as our mad villain.
i can’t add anything but encouragement and admiration, because i only even hear the most blatant themes (like john’s distinct four note theme and the main title), i never would have identified what i just think of as “creepy music notes” here and there as moriarty’s actual theme. But @holmesianscholar has done some really great close listening music metas.
d’ya ever think about why they bothered to name sian’s character “elizabeth” in the credits of tst and tld? this is a show with a long history of characters with credit names like “blind lady” and “beautiful woman” and “creepy guy,” but no they credited her as “elizabeth.” and it’s not like just calling her “e” would’ve tipped us off about the “eurus” connection since they’d already given the whole thing away by the time we first heard the name “eurus” and also the bus lady just signed her name as “e” and more people saw that than bothered to read the credits so if we were all that clever they already gave us the hint anyway.
yeah it’s not like i still think about that either, that was a year ago hahahha ha hah ha h
Therapist: What about his brother? John: Mycroft? He’s fine. I mean, obviously normal and fine are both relative terms when it comes to Sherlock and Mycroft. Therapist: [Chuckles.] Obviously. But, I didn’t mean Mycroft. I meant the other one. John: Which other one? Therapist: You know, the secret one. John: Oh, that was just something… I said. I’m sure there’s… [He pauses.] How did you know about that? I didn’t tell you that. Therapist: You must have done. John: I really didn’t.

First of all, I need to make it clear that this catch—and it’s a great one—1000% belongs to @discordantwords. Not me. The only reason I’m building out a new post instead of reblogging the original is because when I saw the stills I went “Eh, maybe?” but when I saw the video I went “Woah, YES.” So this felt like something that needed a gifset.
Question: did Eurus have a girl act as the girl in the plane or was it her with a changed voice? Is she able to do it so much that they were unable to recognise it???
My impression was that it was Eurus doing the voice Sherlock, John and Mycroft heard over the phone, and the girl we saw on the plane was just in Eurus’ mind. Eurus did different voices when she talked to John on the bus, and when she impersonated Faith and the therapist, so I think that’s something she’s got a talent for.
If you listen carefully, when Sherlock enters her room at the end, she’s using the little girl voice.
@garuda-dreams-of-rain I never noticed that! I’ll have to pay attention next time I rewatch. Good catch! 🙂
@mychakk I guess that’s your answer then… good question! 🙂
Remember the Skull Hell™ ft. Mr. Glowing Skull that’s been giving at least part of us nightmares since January and sparkled a whole bunch of different metas? IIRC it was said that artist who made the original painting raised it’s renting price and crew couldn’t afford to use in anymore because budget for the season was oh so small.
Wait what? Who’s that in the top right corner, why does he look so familiar? But the rent… I must be mistaken. So I went to #Sherlocked tag, and found another photo:
I guess that maybe-kinda serves as an answer re: what order the “I That Am Lost” verses go in. (See text around edge of reel. No idea how this is being treated in the scheme of official merch, but… sure, why not. It matches my best guess based on the in-episode evidence, so I’m gonna go with it.) I wonder if this means there’s a full recording out there?
