tld is literally a bunch of quotes which are now applicable to our torment

– i am a mess, i am in Hell but I am not wrong

– I don’t know. Yeah I don’t know anything anymore

– i’ve played along with this joke. It’s not funny anymore

– has it occured to you that you’ve just been played for an ad campaign

– it is what it is, and what it is is shit

My casual brother wrote a complaint about S4 not being based on Doyle’s works at all and got Johnlock reply :D He’s so shocked

lagckrickrifm they are literally just sending a blanket reply to everyone i am loving this

I love how the BBC is inadvertently piquing people’s interest in and awareness of the idea that John and Sherlock are written as being in love, while trying to defend their own complicity in blatant queerbaiting.  It’s a small comfort, but it amuses me.

in the end they did some promo for us.

we played them for an ad campaign, how the tables turn

I’m confused about what this line in the BBC response means: “We are aware that the majority of this feedback uses the same text posted on websites and circulated on social media”. Was there some kind of a “form letter” that people were using? And even if it were so, what should it matter?

miadifferent:

No, not really. People shared their own letters to help others to write their complaint. But I think the majority used their own words.

I guess this is their generic phrase to use, if the feel the amount of complaints was somehow coordinated and pushed. I think it’s a really awful choice of words as it’s passive aggressive and clearly intents to diminish the value of the individual complaint. Just another point why their response has been very unprofessional.

What the BBC doesn’t understand

thegrumpybi:

The BBC response to the complaints sent in by ‘Sherlock’ fans is distressing; even if you are not a person who is a part of TJLC. I don’t care if the show ‘never had the intention’ of making John and Sherlock in an explicitly queer relationship. The fact that so many queer people took their time to write in and complain about the way it was handled should be concerning to the BBC. The fact that the BBC has chosen to sweep it all under the rug with the response that there was never any romantic or sexual interest between John and Sherlock is offensive. Don’t tell queer people what queer relationships look like.  The BBC has shown that they clearly do not understand the multiple nuanced forms a queer relationship can take. The BBC has shown that they do not care to listen and respect and take into considerations the concerns of queer people. They say that they have been “long and firm supporters of LGBT rights” however; not acknowledging the real distress of queer people in regards to their program proves that to be meaningless.  I am still hoping that there will be a fix to the way that series 4 played out because I have genuinely loved the characters and spirit of ‘Sherlock’ but there is a real persistent problem in the BBC if they think that the way to handle the complaints of queer people is to tell them that they were wrong and they are delusional. And frankly, the offensive response from the BBC illuminates why viewers were so hopeful for John and Sherlock in the first place.

jespionage:

So here’s the complaint I made to BBC over Sherlock. Since everyone else focused on LGBT, I felt the need to talk about women in Sherlock. Yet the reply I revieved had absolutely no explanation for the bad writing nor the awful writing of female characters being used to develop male character storylines. People may disagree with my complaint but you have to admit that BBCs reply is just shitty.

Dear Bee BEe Cee Compaints team!

Thx for clearing up that

THROUGH FOUR SERIES AND THIRTEEN EPISODES, SHERLOCK AND JOHN HAVE NEVER SHOWN ANY ROMANTIC OR SEXUAL INTEREST IN EACH OTHER. gotta admit, i used to be one of those delusional gays on the internet but now i know better. thx for the murder rapist who put the dog boy in the well btw, i feel beautifully represented

There’s just another tiny thing i’d like you to clear up for me if you have time:
When Mary Morstan (my fave character uwu) issued her epic Posthumous Self-Drag 2.0. extended version on DVD, as she was addressing Sherlock, she referred to an unknown third party as “the man we [Mary and Sherlock] both love”. Delusional and fucked up as I was, i initially thought she was referring to John Watson, on of the protagonists of the show. Obviously I was wrong. The most plausible theory in my honest gay opinion is that she was referring to the man we all love; the man everyone loves because loving him is mandatory – Dwayne Douglas Johnson, nicknamed “The Rock”. So I’m assuming that s5 will be all about Sherlock going to hell and back for Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson to prove his love for him. This is the only thing that makes sense to me regarding the narrative. I just wanna know if i’m wrong because i don’t want to delude myself for another 3-7 years.

Cheers babe,
me
