There is just such a huge logical disconnect between the Moftiss wind
up vision at the end of TFP, with John and Rosie still living in John’s
flat and ‘Sherlock at 221B (as per the Moffat Radio Times interview),
and any form of realism.

Any opportunity for John to do
anything involving crime solving or cases with Sherlock would be
nonexistent by the time he had finished with working and paying for
childcare, being up and down in the night with the baby, the cost of
rent etc., plus as a single father how the f*** would he ever be able to
do anything remotely dangerous again, what chances could he take this
man who has the craving for danger?

Sherlock would be very lucky if he saw John and Rosie once a week, much less got to spend any time with John.

– tell me again Moftiss how has this brought them full circle to the
point where canon began, how have they become the Sherlock Holmes and
Doctor Watson of ACD.

Adding the baby to the storyline was even bigger mistake than adding Mary. They’ve truly fucked up here.

Let me talk about S4 John Watson.

Who the hell was he? Now, I’m here for the angst and everything, and I know that the characters can’t be perfect all the time and they are flawed, but??? First of all, in what world John Watson, the man who punched someone for calling Sherlock a weirdo, would willingly forgive his wife for shooting him. Hell, John saw and heard his wife getting ready to shoot Sherlock again. And he forgave her. And in S4 the issue was never brought up again. The man was already miserable and unhappy in HLV even before the shooting, but suddenly in S4 everthing was okay? Oh, but he wasn’t happy. Because he flirted with some rando on a bus who smiled at him. What was the point of that? To show that John wasn’t committed in the marriage, after all? But we already knew that. He dreamed of Sherlock within a month in the marriage, her wife almost killed his best friend.. of course he wasn’t happy. The cheating thing with the girl was unnecessary because there were so many elements already that suggested that he couldn’t be happy. And here goes my question: why did he stay with Mary? Why did he want to save a marriage that was crumbling here and there? Why was he suddenly okay with Mary being an assassin? What happened to the John Watson who in TGG got so mad at Sherlock because there were lives in danger and he was just interested in the game?

And he got so mad because Sherlock couldn’t save Mary in TST? And he blamed him for her death? AND HE ACTUALLY MOOED while Mary was dying, despite the fact he didn’t even try to save her whatsoever? He didn’t even tell her that he loved her, what kind of bullshit was that. And he excluded Sherlock from his life, even though in TLD he said that it was Sherlock that didn’t try to reach for him? What? And I know many people loved TLD, and the hug was frankly the only good thing of this season, but… John beating up Sherlock was horrible. Disgusting. I almost cried when I watched that, because it was so unfair, and wrong, and Sherlock didn’t deserve that. The real John would never, ever, hurt Sherlock like that. 

I don’t even know what to say about TFP, tbh. Because… John was there. I suppose. But nothing more. The writers who always claimed that John was as important as Sherlock, the writers who wrote TAB and the waterfall scene, the writers who wrote lines like “Pretty damn smart”, took this amazing and complex character and destroyed him, because that was the only way to fit him in their fucked up new narrative.
