Why Did They Promote the Leak?

going-to-my-mind–palace:

Welcome to my self-made game show called….

How it works: A random guest from the
audience pulls a topic from a hat and I have 2 minutes (reading time) or less to
explain *audience shouting* THAT THING THAT DOESN’T MAKE SENSE!

Why did they promote the leak?

This makes perfect sense if you think
about it. And use a bit of math.

Only the Sherlock Facebook page AND Sue
Vertue said to NOT seek it out. Those are two negatives. Which, if you take
simple properties of math, equals a positive. Meaning, they DID want die-hard
fans to find the Russian dub before it aired on BBC.

TPTB knew that the episode was wacko
regardless, and they wanted to use the subtext of a Russian Dub to really hit
home. Sort of like: “We know that this episode makes no sense. It’s not
supposed to. Here’s a dub in a language that has nothing do to with the global political
climate at all. Just to make sure you really understand that there’s nothing to
understand here.”

*disclaimer* This post was created for
#reichencrack. A day in the Sherlock fandom where anything goes, as long as it
doesn’t make sense.

4 Years ago I created this blog. 4 YEARS. I can’t believe it.

I’ve wanted to stop so many times, but something kept me going. Sometimes it was just myself saying “you’ll regret it.” Sometimes it was followers or mutuals telling me that they would miss my posts and it would be hard to find fandom related things. I wouldn’t change the last 4 years for anything.

Thank you to everyone who has followed me, reblogs my posts, asks questions, asks me to find a specific post or uses the archive in general.

A thank you to the person who gave me the idea for the blog in the first place: @skulls-and-tea

And a big thank you to the following people who keep me going with their own posts:

@timelorddetectivewizard221b @whymofftiss @iamjustreading @galpalkirk @rdjlock @anotherwellkeptsecret @bakerstreetbabes @cupidford @cumbergoddess @enerjax @emillu @finalproblem @francesca-wayland @firstmeetings @gingerhermit @ghostly-harmless @hillivanilli @ivyblossom @jenna221b @johnlockiseverywhere @jvhnlck @kaleb221 @livebloggingmydescentintomadness @loudest-subtext-in-tv @legendofaghoststory @mycroftslittlebrother @nixxie-pic @opnorbury @oneredbuttonhole @postcardsfromtheoryland @palaceforstars @sherlockology @ughbenedict @usethetagbenedict @vapidcolors @watsonsdick @wolfcharm @nightvcle @hear-the-people-sing @boytoynameddean @benaddictedgirl @artfulkindoforder @chillingabsinthe @myladylyssa @lokilaufeyj @knowmymethods @pagimag @shurplepurpofsex @savetonystark @gunsandships24601 @mzdono @yanfreak @pinchofspicemakeseverythingnice @9to5inthetardis @mscaninibal @i-gave-up-looking-for-a-username @ericswifetara @sectoralheterochromiairidum @booksbroadwayb99 @surfingwaves101 @whereisjawn @ahighlyfunctioningfangirl @consultinghuntress-67 @highlyfunctioningassbutt @elledict @hackkelly @fiftysevvenacademics @moose945 @thelostsmiles @jheller7 @sherlockgayaturgy @ninfa-roma-41 @cumber-blonde @booklover223 @nickischi @ravenmorganleigh @thewatsonbeekeepers @moonlightlock @vulgarweed @amo-not-ammo

I know I’ve missed A LOT, but know that I appreciative everyone that has interacted with this blog over the last 4 years.

To those that have moved on from fandom:

Thank you for your time and insight. I miss seeing your posts across my dash and the discussions we would have. Even if you aren’t around to see this anymore I still have to say it. (I wish I could magically send gratitude to people via brainwaves).

(Also big hug to @baezukhov who has moved on from fandom but is still an awesome person).

To those still here, making stuff or even just here to share it:

Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. I wouldn’t be here without any of you. Or I would be shouting into the void at least.

Here’s to another year (and another BBC Sherlock Haitus)!

……..can we or at least some of us agree not to switch our thinking to this? S4 was largely a crapshoot, sure, but parts were good. The rest of the series were fantastic for what they were. Acting, directing, what about the metas and theory’s we all wrote? It just breaks my soul too see people delve into the past like this. So what if you were X age and liked Y thing. SO WHAT? It was hecking amazing what we all did back then (mainly making things where there really weren’t) and I don’t think time should change that

Question for Sherlock Fandom

Name the craziest thing that happened to you IRL this year and what you think the craziest thing in s4 was. It’s for science.

Mine is that I got a decently paying job that uses my degree FINALLY! And in TFP when Eurus somehow orchestrates a Saw movie basically by herself.

I’m seeing a few posts circulating about how it’s “unbelievable that people don’t think that s4 is fake, doctored, etc” because of “x, y, z reason”

And I’m like WOAH there partner. Didn’t we kind of all mutually agree not to think less of people for whatever they thought about s4? I distinctly remember posts saying let everyone be.

Not sure why now, months later, we are getting these kind of reactions? So many people had left because of s4 and this kind of attitude just keeps people away. No one likes having their ideas policed. All of us should know that by now.

I read summaries of season 4 to my friends who have not seen it or heard what it’s about. (But were fans of the show before, but not as intense as on tumblr). These are their reactions:

Umbrella sword gun w/context: What the fuck

The plot of TST: they just killed mary so John could be angry at Sherlock for no reason? (I showed them a clip and they both agreed Mary jumped on purpose in a terribly cliche fashion. But it wasn’t his fault at all).

Eurus: what the heck? So moriarty just-she was really behind it the whole time? IT RUINS EVERYTHING (neither of them could get a full thought about eurus out. Both agreed she made no sense whatsoever. I know fam, I know).

The Final Problem: Eurus send J+S+M on this wild hunt through Sherrinford just so she could play with Sherlock again?? But she killed his best friend and almost killed John by putting him in a well for no reason? And mycroft is just. Somewhere else and not in a life or death situation. OKAY.

In general: I’m glad I missed watching

That is all

The lying detective is certainly the least ridiculous episode of season 4 if you squint at it and plug your ears randomly while watching. If it wins an Emmy I will actually send the board of directors a strongly worded howler so I can slap all of them repeatedly with the DVDs of the other shows nominated.
