Appointment in Samarra

A merchant of
Baghdad was sipping tea in his garden when his servant ran up to him,
breathless and trembling.
“Master,” he cried. “I have just
seen Death in your garden. She pointed at me with such a ghastly
stare that I knew she had come for me.”
“So you have seen
Death,” the merchant replied, “as each man must. I
understand your alarm.”
“I must leave Baghdad and go far away
from Death. I have a brother in Samarra. I will go there tonight,
Master, and escape my fate.”
“Then take my swiftest horse, and
go with my blessing.”
As the hoofbeats of the fleeing servant
faded in his ears, the merchant, curious, walked through his gardens
to confront Death.
“My servant has done no harm. Why do you disturb him with your ghastly stare?”
Death smiled. “I did not mean to.
I was merely surprised to see him in Baghdad when I have an
appointment with him this evening, at his brother’s house in
Samarra.”

I feel I have to warn you about the fact that Tumblr app is gonna turn some words into emojis, wether you want it to or not.
Because there is no topic that can’t be better communicated with emojis.
Just when you think this app can’t get any worse….
(I became am alpha tester so I could tell them when the app is not working again and therefore I got this ‘feature’ early…)

what the fuck even is this site

This makes no sense whatsoever, what is wrong with the people running this site?

This is called emojify and you can turn it off in settings! Psa for anyone writing long chunks of text that’s supposed to be informative or just really any text based writing in general on tumblr.

Wonder Woman Costume Update

Because a few people have asked about the costume:

Unfortunately all my plans fell through for Halloween. I got the costume 100% done but never got to wear it anywhere. Disappointing, of course, but I decided to not take pics of it cause once those show up on Facebook everyone thinks that’s what you were and then you can’t wear the costume again yada yada and it’s this whole annoying Unspoken Rule of Facebook which I despise. Tumblr not so much, but I didn’t feel like getting all decked out to take photos by myself (my sister usually does but she was busy at school). Hopefully I’ll be able to wear it next year for Halloween or at a convention. Halloween 2017=complete bust.

I’m torn over this. Given the atrocities that Weinstein committed and how complicitous The Weinstein Company must be, it’s good that no money will go to them.

But Benedict and Michael Shannon’s work was highly praised, and the rest of the cast and crew will have their hard work (possibly) go unseen. Which is really sad.

Collateral damage is always ugly and never fair, but since they’re in initial stages of this horrendous situation, perhaps for the best. Now that Weinstein is removed, maybe down the line it’ll still be released under another studio and/or perhaps Sunnymarch will become more significantly involved. I’m no expert to be sure, but time away from TWC may not be a bad thing. Doesn’t have to automatically suggest straight to DVD. This may very well be a good time for companies to acquire projects, left out in the cold.

Honestly probably for the best. Better to be punished for doing the right thing than be successful for doing the wrong. Benedict is such a good and moral person that I’m sure he’d agree. And who knows, it may find a home elsewhere.

There really was no other way to handle this. As much as I was anticipating this film this was the best decision that was made. And I also feel as well that Benedict agreed with this decision.

Really enjoyed and appreciated the wise commentaries on this post, as above… and I agree, I kinda feel after Benedict spoke out for women and against Weinstein that he kind of sealed this outcome.

The vanity far article and others about this only said that it’s not on the list for potential Oscar nominations for this year. It didn’t say that the movie would /never/ be released either in theaters or straight to DVD. We still may see the movie, just not right now. (And it might be with a different company? But I’m not sure how that works when a film is already done?)

That being said I applaud the decision to start proactively pulling films and pulling actors, writers, etc from panels and stopping other PR things for the time being. (As it looks like other films on the docket are being changed or postponed).

With the statements the actors have made I have no doubt they aggred with this decision.
