I am not starting a witch-hunt and I am not saying making manips is bad. But, this is a masterpost of the manips that continually fool fans; they think these are real photographs and they are not.
Some times this happens because people post manips they haven’t made and don’t label them correctly. Other times, they were made simply to fool. *shrugs*
I’ll keep adding to this. And please, feel free to reblog and reference this as much as you want. And if you know the original source of the manip or if the manip is yours (and you can prove it) and want it taken off this post, please inform me and I’ll make a text link to the original post of your manip.

Here’s a new one, everyone! Thank you to sherlockstuff for pointing this out, because for the life of me, I COULD NOT remember where I had seen this photo before!
Even when I reblogged this I knew I had seen it somewhere. The original photo is from either a news article (I can’t remember~) or a tweet, but I’m pretty sure its from an article. I recall the owners of the place commenting on the large amount of breakfast plates they had to serve to Martin Freeman for the multiple takes in some of the last shots of Hounds of Baskerville. Here’s the original photo:

On this one, I had a VERY difficult time finding the original photographs, and even then, it’s a cropped image. But you’ll get the idea.

Okay to start out, itsacrimescene makes OODLES of Sherlock manips, but they never fail to watermark them. They’re always watermarked. So these are easy to figure out. Here’s the two I see surface the most because people steal them from itsacrimescene’s tumblr and reposts them:

I do not know where this manip originated from. But I will tell you this: although that IS Benedict Cumbatch on the right, that is NOT Martin Freeman on the left. That is his head photoshopped onto the body of Jonny Lee Miller.

Got this article in my inbox today, which features a set picture from the Sherlock escape room opening in a few days in London.
First: tell me I’m not the only one who read that as “The Gay Is Now” because of the E hiding in shadows? Also that left leg of the M is so thin It gets lost in the wallpaper.
Second: normal skull painting. IMO, if they could license it for multiple replica sets in the flat in this escape room, they could have for the show, which just further proves to me they’re lying about the glowing skull in the show (which I already believed anyway, but.)

wasn’t it always covered by glass? IIRC the original is multiple layers or something, not just a single print on paper. I’m not sure where i read that , it was so long ago. But yeah, definitely confirms the nonsense about the glowing skull.
Sorry to disappoint you but this is not a new picture of ‘The Game is whatever it is’ set – but an old picture from S2 (there are props to indicate Dartmoor/cross keys pub, a post card of the Tower of London, a hound statuette, the poisoned sweeties & the IOU apple etc) that’s been (badly) photo-shopped!

HOLY shit I don’t know if this has been posted yet, but I tried going to https://sherlockthelostspecial.tumblr.com/ today and noticed that it was password protected. This was super fucky and weird to me because I remember we were able to access it before.
So I tried typing in a bunch of stuff for the password, like “tjlc”, “marymoran”, etc, and GUESS WHAT? The password was “40″.

For those who wonder where Mark Gatiss is he was at the Women’s march in London yesterday while you were probably on the Internet calling him homophobic.
You really need to understand which battles to fight.
I follow a lot of Sherlock blogs and I have not seen anyone call Mark homophobic. However, I have seen numerous people accusing him of being a queerbaiter – justifiably so considering his work on Sherlock.
It’s important to acknowledge that you can be guilty of queerbaiting without actually being homophobic. And it is equally important to call out queerbaiting despite the fact that the person who is partially responsible for instigating it, is in fact gay.
