How far in advance do you plan everything? Like did you know exactly what you wanted for series four at the start (I’m not talking about big things, but like smaller details, like Redbeard)

Mofat said something completely different in the BTS interview. He said that they were quite lucky, that Mycroft looked said in ASiB after the pirate reference, because they now could re-motivate that scene. But it was luck, not intention.
