If there’s not a fourth episode or an equally satisfying explanation for everything that has just occurred (including “ALIENS, SOMEHOW”), then the “fourth episode” rumor kicking off with articles published before TFP aired (in which Moffat referenced The Lost Special), the sudden media attention given to “conspiracy theorists” when there aren’t any (I mean, except for us, burning away merrily in one little corner of Tumblr, largely out of sight of the non-Aja media), the metadata on all those video sites proclaiming the existence of an untitled fourth episode on January 22, the uncharacteristic Twitter quietness following months of enthusiasm, and the fact that the episode is clearly poorly written in a way that cannot be by accident and that even calls attention to its deliberateness, will all add up to the biggest and strangest cluster of coincidences I have ever encountered and will ever encounter again in my entire goddamn life and I will forever hear the music from The Twilight Zone in my head whenever I hear or see the words “final” or “problem”

I’m envisioning a future in which niece or nephew says “Can you help me study for my final exam in math? I’m stuck on this one word problem” and the next thing I know I’m coming back to my senses on the shoulder of the Long Island Expressway

This is absolutely why i don’t have any problem believing in a fourth episode. It only makes sense. Doesn’t even matter what’s in it, there just needs to be one.

I… don’t want to put a Tin foil hat on but in the same time… what the fuck

In that same article we get the gem above.

So they do, in fact, shoot actual fake scenes to confuse their fans. Hmm.. wonder how many other such scenes there might be out there.

Also, what the hell happened between writing S3 and S4 if, in TEH, they used external experts (I’m presuming a physicist of some sort, in this case), to ensure that the story makes logical sense that can be replicated in the real world, and then left TFP full of emmentaler-sized plot holes and things that make no sense whatsoever. Seriously, something dire must have occurred for such a drastic change to take place.

TODAY ON BBC AMERICA. Is this the same time as the BBC One Inauguration special? This is no coincidence. Is it hinting at a third party hack?!

@consultingeastwind

Yep. This is true. Star Trek today jumps from mid-season 4 at 11AM to mid-season 6 at 12PM for no apparent reason, making this Sherlock Holmes episode come on during today’s inaugural proceedings. What a strange coincidence….. of course, if it is a coincidence.

anyone else noticing how in the vid of the lights turning off at piccadilly circus the screens turn off like they’re CRTs?? like, correct me if i’m wrong but would giant LED screens just turn off without like ..sdkfhlkfa d i’m sorry, but it looks like a computer animation of what a CRT TV does when you switch it off

LED screens definitely don’t do this.

For example, this gif below is from the “Earth Hour” in 2010. They just turn black.

I’m not saying anything, but… do you remember where did we see a similar effect? What a funny coincidence.

Hate to break it to you guys but if you’re expecting another episode to air on Sunday they’ll have to change around the entire tv schedule and disappoint fans of the other shows they’ve already promised. The schedule is up on the PBS website and sadly no Sherlock. Maybe we’ll get a short like Many Happy Returns, but otherwise I wouldn’t get my hopes up.

I haven’t seen an actual listing for another episode anywhere (IMDB, Wikipedia, Fandango, PBS Masterpiece, WOSU), but did some more research to fact check this and it is indeed listed on the website, but I can’t say I’m familiar with it. I couldn’t find an “edit” button at first glance or anything. Anyone else know something about this?

Alright I saw this post and for kicks decided to check the PBS website again. At the time everyone’s looking at, some show called Agatha Raisin is on, which on Wikipedia is described as “…a fictional detective in a series of humorous mystery novels by Marion Chesney… published in the U.K.”
Okay, yeah. British detective show based on novels. That’s a little weird. Digging further I see that IMDB has this Agatha Raisin show, but it hasn’t had a new episode since July of this year. Maybe it’s just now coming off of hiatus since it started airing pretty recently but all the same my hopes are starting to get higher and I don’t like this

…so I went on my TV to double check and again it’s this Agatha Raisin thing and it looks like it’s an hour and a half long (consistent) and when I clicked for the description it got stuck on “loading”
