Stuff and things

(Good things though)

So um hi šŸ‘‹šŸ»

If you’ve noticed, I haven’t been post as much over the last week…with good reason.

It’s been years in the making, but my university finally has a marching band. And I am it’s new colorguard coach!

Doing that and having 2 jobs is taking a lot of my days at the moment. And I’m still figuring out the new routine of having this activity back in my life.

Back in middle and highschool all I did was dance, marching band and well, school. And I did it well, but it didn’t leave time for much else. I didn’t go to parties, or sleep overs really. My 1st job was a dance teacher so I didn’t make new coworker friends.

But that was probably because I was a kid still, my parents dictated a lot of my life and where I could go and when and with who. (I couldn’t drive until college so that hindered the ā€œtaking the keys and going to hang outā€ thing).

Now I’m an adult (barely) and can control a bit more. Yay me.

That means making some tough decisions about free time and what I view as worth it in the long run.

And now I’ve come to my point.

This blog.

I’ve run it for 4 years with no breaks, or hardly any. I haven’t taken a hiatus and I don’t intend to really start now? But I think a mini-pseudo haitus is in store.

Being honest here: bbc Sherlock fandom is dying a bit and it’s harder to find new stuff. I know there are other adaptations but I only ever got into RDJ Holmes. I just don’t have the time to devote to the others or to this blog as I did in the past.

With new life changes, comes other changes as well.

So here’s the deal:

I post when I can and when there’s actually stuff to post. Lately I’ve been rebloging pap shots of Ben and Sophie and as cute as they are it gets a bit boring.

There may be days when I don’t post, and a week may pass. That may be due to be being busy or there’s just nothing happening.

I hope this compromise works for everyone. It may change later on once marching season is over, I’m not sure. Until then, this is what I’m going with

ā¤ļø thank you to everyone that reblogs and interacts with me. I don’t talk to many people on here but still makes me happy to see the same usernames pop up again and again.

PSA FOR PEOPLE THAT POST PAPARAZZI PICTURES

There was a picture from the set of the will Ferrell Sherlock Holmes that was removed on Twitter today! That individual probably got a strike (idk how that works on twitter but…) and that same thing would definitely carry over onto tumblr!!

If you see pictures from set in magazines or elsewhere on the internet do not share!!! It’s not worth losing your blog over!

going-to-my-mind–palace:

If you haven’t heard the news-tumblr is going through and deleting blogs that have copyrighted images (pap, press or otherwise). I think I’m okay, I usually just reblog those images from others…BUT in case and until I go through my blog fully, I’m going ghost. That means:

My blog will not be searchable

It will be password protected

And

You can only see my blog posts on your feed

I don’t think this will affect anyone terribly, as no one really searches for meta info much these days. But for transparency, that’s what’s going down.

PSA:

Tumblr has been doing a purge of blogs in the last two days, reading around posts i found that both Backgrid and now SplashNews are using a third party reverse image system for their pics and then reporting for copyright to tumblr so PLEASE PLEASE if you ever posted pap pics or event pics go now and PUT YOUR BLOG UNDER PASSWORD and delete everything!!!!!! Do it before they get to you and terminate you, bc trying to get a blog back is hard and tumblr might not give it back even if you argue and argue with them! PLEASE be safe and don’t let your hard work get deleted!!

and another thing: go to the settings of your blog and scroll down to visibility and turn on the ā€˜hide your blog from search engines’ button! that way you will be harder to find on all search engines, its not much but it could really help!!

image

NOT JUST THAT!

Check off everything! If you hide the blog and make it only viewable over the dashboard NO REVERSE IMAGE SEARCH CAN SEE YOUR PICTURES!

And the explicit one makes it even HARDER to search your posts because it HAS to be someone, who is logged in to see your posts. SO REVERSE IMAGE AND LOGGED OUT MAKES IT NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE TO SEE ANYTHING.

https://studiomoh.com/fun/tumblr_originals/

I tried it out on this website and made one small blog visible for EVERYONE, search results, outside of Tumblr, logged out and it SHOWED IMMEDIATELY my original posts. Then I checked off everything made it hidden and it couldn’t find anything. It took like a looooooot of time and I was worried at first that they got it and are searching it now and terminating it but my settings made it impossible for that search engine to even find these posts I have on my blog.

So, honestly, you don’t have to password protect your blogs. You can check off everything and it will take A LOT OT TIME to even search those posts..maybe even make it impossible to find them at all.

Try it out and if you still get terminated, please let me know!! Thanks!

I love how the search function on this site is absolute garbage. I can look up a post word for word and I will NEVER find it

Pro tip:

Wanna find a post?

Write out what you remember into a Google search.

After you write that out, end with site:tumblr.com

Google will search for your text on just tumblr

In my experience, it’s way more effective than searching through Tumblr

(you can use site:SITENAME.com to search any site btws)

This usually works but for some reason a lot of posts get indexed on google from a person’s URL based on the posts that were recently reblogged on page 1, meaning that this is only a tiny bit more reliable.

I HAVE a solution to this, you have to write down site:tumblr.com/post ā€œ ā€œ

and then write a direct quote (could be a fraction of a sentence) into the quotations, I’ve been doing this for years, and it’s so useful, it works like 99% of the timeĀ

(the more popular a post is the more likely you’ll find it)

you’re a genius holy shit

Another PSA (?)

This should go without saying…but um please don’t reblog my update posts?? I’m not sure why anyone would (besides spam blogs, it makes links that make the blog seem more legit in a search).

The updates are for tags on this blog and that’s it. If I talk about making another post within the PSA I will do so. Reblog THAT when it comes.

The game is now: update

I will be catching up with the new thing TPTB announced tomorrow. I will use the tag #thegameisnow and #the game is something. Heed the spaces!

Please block those tags if you do not wish to see posts regarding this new thing…whatever it is.

Also please keep in mind: I, personally, may not agree with posts that I reblog. But I will reblog them for archival purposes. I do have an opinion on this announcement which I will discuss at a later date (sometime this week).
